New for 2018, Shen Lacrosse Club will be offering both internal recreational and CDYLL programs at the Boys 5th & 6th grade level.  Many factors went into this decision and it is one we feel will offer the best opportunity for all boys to enjoy their lacrosse experience.  We have built a model based on research of other successful youth programs and in conjunction with the Athlete Development Model developed by US Lacrosse.

Recreation League
All 5/6 players participate in the Recreation League
Practices (2 per week)
- Monday p
ractice will be with all players in a clinic format focused on skills and drills applicable to all skill levels
- Tuesday practice will divide Rec & CDYLL players to allow them to practice at their own pace
Games (1 per week in May/June)
- Wednesday will be recreational game night
     -
The boys will be divided into 4 equal teams
     -
Games will be played 7 vs 7 on a shortened field/box
     - The benefit of this format is that it will maximize the number of "touches" that each player has with the ball, thereby improving skill development.
     - All players get equal time, everyone gets to try all the positions, and teams are small enough where players get plenty of “ball time” to develop their skills.
     - Players must attend at least one practice to participate in the rec games unless previously discussed with their coach or 5/6 coordinator

CDYLL “Round Robin” Teams
- Towards the end of April, we will create 2 equal round robin teams, each with approximately 20 players
- The program will have an additional cost of $40 per player, to be assessed after teams are selected
- Team placement is for the season and based upon the 3 A’s:  Attitude, Aptitude and Attendance.
- Teams will participate in Saturday round robins through CDYLL in addition to the rec program
If you play in the CDYLL program you must also play rec!  Failure to attend rec practices and/or games can result in removal from the round robin roster.
All CDYLL rosters will be flexible and Shen Lax reserves the right to move players when deemed appropriate.
